The Overall Brief
Natasha from Border Boutique Hire approached us after initially speaking with a web agency and was looking for a more personal service where she could openly discuss her ideas, better understand what was possible and receive genuine one-to-one support. After meeting with Natasha and her husband Damien, it was clear they had a fantastic business idea and a real passion for making it work. Together, we researched the industry, developed their vision and created a clean, elegant and luxurious brand identity, including their logo, business cards, gift vouchers and premises signage.
The original website concept was to create a full online designer dress hire service, allowing customers to order, pay for online and return dresses within 3–5 days, alongside an online booking system for in-store appointments. The website was developed with the required booking and payment systems fully integrated, but as we worked through the practicalities, concerns around shipping, returns and the security of high-value designer dresses became apparent.
Rather than forcing the original idea, I worked closely with Natasha and Damien to develop a solution that better suited their business. The website was simplified to focus on online bookings for customers wanting to visit the boutique and try on dresses, alongside a straightforward e-commerce store selling jewelry and accessories available to purchase online. This allowed Border Boutique Hire to maintain the personal, luxury experience of the boutique while giving the business a practical and manageable online presence.
Logo Design, Signage & Print
After sharing examples of logos and styles she liked, it was clear Natasha wanted the Border Boutique Hire branding to be simple, elegant and refined. Two initial logo concepts were created, with the final design placing strong emphasis on the business name. This clean style was then carried through to the business cards, combining a simple front with background styling and all key contact details on the reverse of the card.
After visiting the boutique, it became clear that signage was needed to help customers find the right building for their appointment. I designed simple signage featuring the logo and a subtle directional arrow, along with additional signage for the boutique door and installed both.
With Natasha attending an upcoming event, she also needed gift vouchers to promote the business. I designed the vouchers and had them prepared for print within the same day. After Natasha approved the final design, they were sent to print ready for the event.
